It's finally here. The NHL trade deadline will pass at 3 p.m. and there are some major players that could be moved. Could Martin St. Louis go to the Rangers? Will Thomas Vanek and Matt Moulson get traded again? Will Martin Brodeur get moved from New Jersey? This actually could be a deadline day with big trades unlike the last few seasons. I'll be updating all day.

The Score in Canada has a solid trade tracker http://www.thescore.com/nhl/tradedeadline/transactions that will keep you abreast of things. You can also follow me on Twitter @DanMountSports for the latest.

8:15 a.m.: Still nothing on Marty Brodeur. Yesterday, there was a rumored deal between the Devils and the Wild but nothing has moved as of yet. We'll keep an eye on this for you.

8:30 a.m.: Looks like something will be done about Rangers captain Ryan Callahan. Either he signs a long-term deal or gets dealt according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun.

Gap narrowed once again between Callahan camp and Rangers yesterday... but Rangers have to decide today: sign that deal or trade him

8:35 a.m.: Maybe Vancouver's Ryan Kessler is on the move. The Pens are trying to make a serious play.

@NHLNFA Trade Rumors & News - I'm hearing #Penguins are very close to acquiring Kesler from #Canucks just waiting for #NHL to sign off. #FF

8:40 a.m.: Tampa Bay looks like it's going to try and get a lot from the Rangers for Martin St. Louis, according to SportsNets Nick Kypreos.

#Lightning ask from #Rangers remains extremely high 4 Marty St Louis. Probability is he finishes yr out in TB, Yzerman revisits @ #NHL draft

— Nick Kypreos (@RealKyper) March 5, 2014

8:55 a.m.: Trades may not happen until later in the day, so keep that in mind. Interesting rumor surrounding Ottawa's Jason Spezza.

My friend Denis Potvin says Anaheim Ducks have made multiple phone calls on Jason Spezza. Still doubt he moves today. #Sens

9:20 a.m.: When teams get closer to the deadline, the asking price drops. TSN's Gord Miller reports that Thomas Vanek's asking price has gone way down.

According to TSN's Gord Miller, the asking price for Tomas Vanek has significantly dropped. Will the #LAKings be interested? @GMillerTSN

9:30 a.m.: TSN's Darren Dreger reports that the Senators are interested in Edmonton's Ales Hemskey, who scored twice last night against them. If you can't beat them, get them to join you.

Told Ottawa is among the teams interested in Hemsky. Good look at his upside last night. Best on the ice for the Oilers #TSN #bardown.com

— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) March 5, 2014

10 a.m.: This is usually when the deals get started. (The GMs need their coffee.) Although, it took until 12:30 p.m. last year for the first deal. However, I'm optimistic that we get some deals done before.

10:15 a.m.: It seems like everyone could be in play for the Canucks. Alex Edler is getting some interest according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun.

Teams continue to phone Vancouver on Alex Edler... Wasn't a chip Canucks really looking to move that much but if price is right...

— Pierre LeBrun (@Real_ESPNLeBrun) March 5, 2014

10:45 a.m.: Ryan Callahan update as he's on the ice for the Rangers at the morning skate. He'll either be signed or traded according to most experts. Tweet courtesy of Katie Strang.

10:50 a.m.: According to Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Marian Gaborik to the L.A. Kings.

I'm hearing now Gaborik to #lakings is a done deal. Don't know for what

— Michael Russo (@Russostrib) March 5, 2014

10:55 a.m.: Russo now saying deal is not final as of yet, but it's close.

11:05 a.m.: Potential blockbuster as TSN's Bob McKenzie reports St. Louis to the Rangers for Callahan and draft picks is close.

McKenzie hearing that St. Louis to Rangers is really ramping up. #TradeCentre

What this means for the Rangers: They get a guy that can play fast and will fit into Alain Vigneault's style. He's familiar with the Rangers as he live in Connecticut. He worked out with them during the lockout and played with Brad Richards. He can get the easy goals that the Rangers can't convert.

What this means for Tampa Bay: They get a solid defensive center that wins faceoffs. It also ends the dark cloud that hung around St. Louis and GM Steve Yzerman.

12:20 p.m.: We still have some major pieces out there, but it's going to take one of these guys to go before the others fall into place as Yahoo's Nick Cotsonika states.

There is a lot of supply -- Vanek, Moulson, Hemsky, Cammalleri, Gaborik. Eventually prices have to come down, dominoes have to fall.

— Nick Cotsonika (@cotsonika) March 5, 2014

12:25 p.m.: Ales Hemsky to the Senators and the Oilers get a couple of picks in return according to Sportsnet's John Shannon.

Ales Hemsky is an Ottawa Senator for 2 Draft Picks.

— John Shannon (@JSportsnet) March 5, 2014

What this means for Ottawa: It gives the Senators a creative playmaker and a guy that's been playing well since the Olympics. It'll help Ottawa's playoff push.

What this means for Edmonton: They get something for an unrestricted free agent that was going to walk at the end of the year.

12:50 p.m.: Devan Dubnyk traded for the second time this year as he's sent to Montreal as an insurance for an injured Carey Price.

1:20 p.m.: Marian Gaborik to the L.A. Kings (finally). Looks like Michael Russo was right after all.

UPDATE: The deal includes Matt Frattin and a couple of picks going to Columbus for Gaborik.

1:50 p.m.: Marcel Goc traded to Pittsburgh and Florida will get a 3rd and 5th round pick.

1:55 p.m.: This is going to be the period of fast and furious action. Carolina sends Tuomo Ruutu to the Devils per Darren Dreger of TSN.

2:25 p.m.: Two trades as Tim Thomas goes to Dallas and Nick Schultz heads from Edmonton to Columbus. I guess no tire-pumping jokes will be made.

2:45 p.m.: Be careful watching trades as I was had on a fake Kessler deal. Also, we do have a deal as Andrej Meszaros goes to Boston and Philly gets a draft pick.

3 p.m.: Just because the deadline passes doesn't mean the trades are done. They have to be called into the league office. Will Vanek, Moulson or Kessler get traded?

3:07 p.m.: The Rangers get Swiss defenseman Raphael Diaz from the Canucks for a draft pick.

3:15 p.m.: Buffalo News' John Vogl says Matt Moulson traded to Minnesota pending trade call. Also, TSN waiting for confirmation on Thomas Vanek has been traded.

Also, Reto Berra has been traded to Colorado from Calgary.

3:20 p.m.: Detroit gets original Nashville Predator David Legwand.

The Montreal Canadiens are the winners of the Thomas Vanek sweepstakes.

What the Vanek trades means to Montreal: It may be a rental, but they're making a push for the playoffs. Vanek is going to elevate his game and could possibly stay after the season.

What the Vanek deal means to the Islanders: At least Garth Snow got something for him. It may not be what they wanted, but they got something.

3:30 p.m.: Here are the details of the Moulson trade.

3:40 p.m.: The Sabres aren't done as they trade the recently acquired Jaroslav Halak to Washington.
